# Make congress divest

I was recently pondering the idea that congress will never restrict their ability to trade stocks. Is there any way that the general public could just *make* them? Remember when Grover Norquist was making conservative politicians sign a [pledge](https://atr.org/about-the-pledge/?ref=looserooster.com) to never raise taxes? Could there be a similar pledge where politicians are pressured into agreeing to divest from stocks or put all their assets into a blind trust? Seems like such a simple ask...
